We've been looking to add to our little family for a while now and today we welcomed a furry friend into our home. Meet Hunter, a 13 week old bundle of puppy trouble :)
Isn't he an absolute cutie-pie? He's had quite the day today and is currently fast asleep in his new 'den'. I'm sure we'll have loads of grand adventures together :)

The next wee house
I've been working on another little house in the wee hours of the night. I'm moving towards a sort of witchy gothic playhouse. She looks a bit of a mess at the mo' but here's a peek anyway...
You can see that there's quite a way to go with this one. The roof isn't done at all but I've got something a little different in mind for this one but I have no idea if it will work :P I suppose that the experimentation is half the fun!

Snobbery, Wrestling and Needlecraft
Long ago I wrote a thesis on snobbery (doesn't it look fancy?). The basic gist was that snobbery is usually the result of ignorance and the need/desire to feel superior to others. Anti-snobbery on the other hand is often expressed by those who have an understanding, appreciation and knowledge of the subject matter. My thesis dealt specifically with the wine world but these snobby rules can be applied to other topics... like wrestling for example.
Chris Jericho is on Dancing with the Stars this season. I adore Chris Jericho. He's really funny. He's charismatic. He's from Winnipeg. If you haven't heard of Chris before you're probably not a professional wresting fan. He's the best in the world at what he does! He's the man of 1004 holds! He'll save us all! Y2J!
When I was a wee gal (in the days of the very first Wrestlemania) I was a big wrestling fan. I'm not a hard core follower now, I only catch a bit of it here and there, but I do find myself quickly sucked in. The crazy story lines, the good guys and baddest baddies, the costumes, faux fur, glitter, explosions, muscles and high flying action to boot... really, its the perfect source of crafting inspiration!
So I've spent the last week or so stitching up some of my favourite old time wrestlers...
Andre the Giant
"Macho Man" Randy Savage
Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka
Sgt. Slaughter
And unframed and wrinkly...
Iron Sheik
Big Show - Okay he's not an old timer... sue me *lol
Stitching these guys has been a ton of fun. These are the first 'real' stitchy projects I've worked on and I'm sure I'll be doing more. Besides, I've got to get an homage to Jericho in somewhere (he did inspire this set of stitchery after all) ... and then there's Undertaker, he'd be fun to do... and maybe Kane... and ... oh, you get the idea :)

Faerie Houses version 3.1
Ok. This isn't the project I was hinting about last week but I finished this lot up today so I figured I'd share. They are actually the biggest of the lot I've done measuring around 5" tall.
I've given this lot wee wooden doors. They do need some handles though :)

Wicked Circus Swap
Microjivvy avert your eyes!
Is the coast clear?
Has she looked away?
Good.
First of all you must immediately go and check out www.microjivvy.com/ You will be completely gobsmacked by the miniature maddnes!
I have no idea where all my time is going. I swear I've hit some sort of time warp. Anywho, I spent this week finishing up an altered Altoid Tin for the Wicked Circus Swap over on craftster. Seriously... check out the gallery here.
Here's my wee thing, on it's way this very evening, to jivvy.
Seeing trapeze artists and tightrope walkers has always given me the heebies! This poor gal is plunging to her death in front of a horrified crowd (actually I think most of them are drunk so maybe they aren't so horrified).
I sure hope my partner likes it!

The flags have been improved since I took the exterior shots but you get the gist.

What are little boys made of?
I've put the finishing touches on that wip I showed off a while ago.
My intention was to make a collection of things that an imp might pick up and hold for safe keeping but things sort of changed direction in the middle. Instead it became a sort of homage to little boys. Lost buttons, skipping stones, birthday candles and missing game pieces, these are what boys are made of.
I do like this piece but it sort of makes me a little sad too. I suppose it's all of those the little memories tugging at my heartstrings. Despite all my swearing, I am very squishy and sentimental inside :P
Although I've been completely bombarded with design work and germs this past month, I've started a new project. I'm really excited about it and having a lot fun. It's not in the least bit serious and a complete departure in both medium and subject for me. I can't wait to show it off, though it might not be your cup-o-tea... you'll just have to wait and see *lol*

Party Like A Rock Star
I'm bushed! Today our kidlet had some friends over to celebrate his birthday. It was a bit of a rushed affair as it wasn't until last week that the kiddo decided that he wanted a Rock'n Roll party. It was a mad dash to pull it all together. I didn't get to cram in everything I hoped to, but there's always next year to do bigger and better :) Anyway, on to the goods...
The invites were done up like backstage passes.
There was a red carpet to greet the kids at the door.
The signs just encouraged them to break in : P
We had a mini photo shoot and I did a 'magazine' cover for each of the kids. I used a white backdrop for easy cropping and made the template so that I could just drop each kids' photo in and change the name.
Here they are checking out some of the finished covers.
I covered my drafting table with fresh paper and let the kids graffiti it. It was a good spot for the kids to go when they felt a bit overwhelmed and needed a few minutes of quiet. Boys can make A LOT of noise and be pretty rambunctious.
On the menu? Candy sushi, fruit salsa, fruit kabobs, cheese and crackers, chips, hotdogs, hamburgers...
and a mini ice cream bar! D already had 2 birthday cakes (lucky kid!) so we decided not to have another one at the party.
Each kidlet got to take home their magazine cover and fancy swag bag.
If I had to do it over again (or had more time) I would have organized more activities and given gold records as the prizes. The kids spent A LOT of time whacking each other with balloons and driving the Mr. insane :)
... but I think the little trouble makers had a pretty good time.
