Dainty Lace Fairy Slippers

I created these delicate things during the summer solstice, or mid-summer night if you prefer. What better time to craft a pair of dainty fairy slippers!

The soles of these slippers is thick cotton canvas, providing a solid base to support the lacy tops. The uppers are created with White Venice Applique Lace with a heel of Ivory Embroidered Fabric Lace Trim.

I've used snippets from this Ivory Flower and Pearl Trim and Ivory Lace Trim with Multi Colored Sequins and finally finished the darlings off with leaves swiped from Tresors de Luxe's Shabby Chic Flower Embellishment.

I think any fashionable fairy would be pleased as punch to have such a pretty pair of slippers, but they'd also make a beautiful gift for a baby shower or even a 'just because' present for someone who believes in fairy magic.

More cocooned pixie babies

While waiting for the glue to dry on the 1st year Hogwarts textbooks, I made another batch of cocooned pixies.

Someone mentioned that they might have a story behind them so here goes:

They were created as little moonish faces but they cried "No! We're too little to hang in the sky! We want to be snuggled tightly and have bright wooly hair that blows in the wind." I could not think of an argument not to comply... and so they got their wish.

All of the pixies in this post will be listed in the shop over the next day or so. I will link the individual listings from the photos as they become available.

A simple Petaloo crown

I love crafting with kids! They are a lot of fun to work with and sometimes they come up with the most brilliant ideas. Plus, in general, kids love glue as much as I do :)

Petaloo_NBattilana_crown

For this sweet summer crown I've simply taken a length of wide Crochet Lace Fancy Trim and glued on loads of pretty bright Petaloo Floradoodles and Velvet Butterflies. (Tip: Work on top of a length of waxed paper to avoid sticking.) Once dried I secured the ends. Easy peasy!

You can speed things along with hot glue... just be careful of little fingers! (Pssst, if you're in a pickle you can always use a length of paper as the base instead.)

How much fun would this be to wear to garden party or summer picnic? I think I'll make another fit just for me :)

More cocooned babies

More cocooned fairies ready to head out to Impresario Artisan Market to find their new families.

As I mentioned in a previous post, they did start out as little moonish faces but then they said "No! We're too little to hang in the sky! We want to be snuggled tightly and have bright wooly hair that blows in the wind." I could not think of an argument not to comply... so they got their wish.

It's funny working on little things like this. Dressing them. Giving them personalities.

This blue haired one is quiet... but will grow to be a big pile of trouble. A mischief maker!

And this wee lass is lovely as can be but will raid the pantry of all it's jam and honey.

Peg Doll Fairies

I made these sweet little things when I was itching to create but didn't have much time.

I think they're pretty cute.

I particularly like their tiny lace crowns and glittery wings :)

Sometimes something quick and cute is exactly what's in order.

It's the little things...

There have been loads of requests for a tute on my little handmade books... especially after my Graphic 45's An Eerie Tale Potter-ish trunks. Seeing as it's fairy ninjas who come and make them in the middle of the night, there will not be a tutorial. I've also had lots of requests for a download of the covers... which seemed a bit silly if you couldn't make the books. So, I've been working hard with Leslie from Alpha Stamps for a solution to this particular delemma.

I've created this collage sheet...

To fit perfectly with these new Alpha Stamps mini books!

Put the two together and looky what you can make!

The "Little Library" collage sheet includes Potter-ish books, spell books, fairy titles, blank covers... and by extra special request, several Jane Austen titles.

Now go on and make yourself an awesome Little Library with those adorable Alpha Stamps mini books!

P.S. Hurry over to the Alpha Stamps blog and you could enter their amazing giveaway, it closes tomorrow!

An inspired cocoon and little books

I created a set of sweet little sleeping faces a short while ago and I was a tad stumped as to what to do with them.

I'm not one for jumping on bandwagons or copying other people's original ideas but I couldn't help but be inspired by the little cocooned fairies I've seen on pinterest. The little faces kept nagging... "But we want to be hugged and cocooned!" and so that's just what I've done.

Again, absolutely not an original idea... and I wish I could tell you who did it first to give them credit, alas... In any case I think they are sweet and there's loads of other lovely fairy cocoon makers online if you care to have a little search.

ALSO, a number of people asked about the availability of the Potter books.

I'm taking orders for sets of handmade first year Hogwarts textbooks until the end of the day. This will be the only time I will be making them so if you'd like a set made by my stubby fingers please get your order in quick as a bunny. The listing can be found HERE. P.S. There's no shipping charges for the set.

Now, I'm off to camp in the yard with my kid. Not looking forward to the mosquitoes... but I am looking forward to giggles in the tent and marshmallows :)
