Punch and Judy Theatre

Today I have a wee Punch and Judy theatre made with goodies from AlphaStamps

I made a Punch and Judy theatre eons ago (there's a tute for that one too) but this one is larger and much less fiddly... and slightly less violent.

If you aren't familiar with Punch and Judy it's a sort of violent puppet show which can be dated back to just before the 1700's, reaching a height of popularity during the Victorian era. More recently, they have a bit of a shout out in Gone Girl.

To look at these two you'd think butter wouldn't melt in their mouths... you'd be so wrong!

To make this piece I began with the Punch & Judy Theatre kit. Then covered it in Red & Ivory Narrow Stripes Scrapbook Paper. I've actually added two headers here. One attached to the rear from the Punch & Judy Theater Collage Sheet. A second one on the front of the the theatre from the The Grand Guignol Collage Sheet.  I think it gives a good feeling of frantic fun, perfectly suited to Punch and Judy.

The wee Union Jack flags are a public domain image I scaled down and attached to toothpicks. So fancy, Nichola!

The wee figures inside are removable.

Once again I get super duper fancy with my techniques  by simply folding the "stick-end" of the image from the The Grand Guignol Collage Sheet. Easy peasy!

I finished off the piece with some red dresden trims because everything is better with dresden. (I would trim myself in dresden if at all possible.)

And that is it! Fairly easy and you can make this project with all the bits found HERE. Or here are the supplies bit by bit:

A Midsummer Faerie Theatre

"Tis almost fairy time"

That line is from my favourite Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Nights Dream. It's the inspiration for my project for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts this month, A Midsummer Faerie Theatre, perfectly timed for the upcoming summer solstice (in the Northern hemisphere anyway).

I haven't used glitter in the past couple of projects fir Gypsy Soul *gasps!* so I made up for it on this one. Even my little Titania, Queen of the Faeries, has glitter encrusted on her wings. The image I've used here is from The Graphics Fairywhich is an excellent source of quality free images btw.

Inside the chipboard Stage there are glittery branches, moss, flowers, leaves, toadstools... all the good stuff.

This month Gypsy Soul is pairing with Altered Pages, who supplied us with these Muse Dragonfly rubber stamps. Now, I've got to be honest, I am not a stamper. I rarely use stamps so including them was a challenge for me. I've stamped the image on to thick card, cut out, then applied some gold embossing powder to the body of the dragon and damselflies. They're finished off with some glitter and tucked into those sparkly branches.

Gypsy Soul is also partnered with Xyron and I used their 3" Sticker Maker to not only add the trims you see on the piece, but also as an adhesive to apply embossing powder to the top bunting and moon.

Ornate Miniature Marie Theatre for Alpha Stamps

The theme this month over at Alpha Stamps has been Marie in Wonderland. Given that I've been on a bit of a Marie Antoinette kick lately, I had a lot of fun dreaming up a little project for them. And so I present an ornate Marie theatre... in miniature.

The stage is created with a Tiny Paper Mache Box and embellished with pretty golden dreseden trims. The curtains in this box are cut up frocks from the collage sheets included in the kit. There's Raw Brass Flourishes* and a Small Man in the Moon Charm too.

The piece is quite tiny, measuring in at just 2.25" tall and in actual fact I created two of the wee things...
