I am not a morning person. I am a creature of the night! Dark and mysterious! (not really) But this morning I rose early and it was beautiful outside.
It was foggy and slightly cool.
There was dew on the rue... and everything else too!
I discovered some new mushrooms that had popped up by the old locust stump.
And checked in on the little pixie houses in the woodpecker holes.
The sun climbed a little higher, and there was a moment when the light was glorious perfection!
It was beautiful.
(But I'm still not a morning person :P )
Those images are exactly why I adore the mornings. :)
ReplyDeleteRising early for work most of my early adult life, or my "other life" as I now think of it, I never thought of myself as a morning bird either as it was by necessity, not choice. But, much as my maternal grandfather continued through his later years to get up at 4am, as he did for 35 years working in the steel mills, I find that I still wake at 5-ish no matter and now that I use the first hour or two of almost every morning for writing, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I have the world to myself for a few precious moments. I walk the block to the bakery four days a week for a fresh danish or sweet roll, feed the sparrows, crows and starlings and I adore those moments of bliss within it most of all.
I didn't know there was a 5am! lol I really am a stinker when it comes to mornings. I can't function at all for the first while, after a coffee things improve slightly. And those are the reasons I love the night. It's my time in the quiet and alone, when I get the world to myself.
DeleteUltimately, I think that's what determines our love of one or the other as creative elder-kids. When can we have the world around us to ourselves?? In younger days it was always at night as the rest of the house slept. . . : )

ReplyDeleteThank you claude
DeleteThe picture of the Pixie House in the woodpecker hole has made me decide to walk our tree line looking for the same kind of holes. And if there are no houses in them, I may just have to 'plant' some. Then the grandkids will have something to discover. (Hopefully my daughter won't decide to have Grandma committed!)
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope you do! Please send me a photo if you 'discover' any fairies living your trees.
Deletegorgeous pictures. I on the other hand have always been a morning person. Rarely do I sleep past 5am and nothing is more wonderful than a walk to the beach to watch the sunrise. Better yet after tourist season and you have the beach to yourself. Favorite place is out on the balcony watching the finches arrive for their morning breakfast and treats while I drink my morning pot of coffee.
ReplyDeleteI like mornings but not 5:00 a.m. unless there is adventure involved. I am not a night owl tho', can't seem to stay up much past 10:00 now. It's a bit gray out in my neck of the woods and possible chance of showers.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful..I love the mushroom picture, and most of all, the little pixie house,in the tree stump, is the most adorable thing ever!!! SWEET.
