I've always wanted to make my own tarot deck, so when I saw a swap on craftster for handmade tarot cards I jumped on board.

I'm really happy with my efforts today. Here's card No. 17, The Star.

There's a few symbolic things missing from the card but overall I'm pleased.

I'm really hoping that by making cards I'll gain a better understanding of the Fool's Journey and a deeper appreciation for the symbolism used (even if I do cheat and forgo using some the symbols in my own deck).

  1. I love that you are making your own deck. I've often played with the idea of making my own but then I get bogged down with an inner need to include all the symbols and one thing leads to another and I move on to another project.

If I can let go of the notion that I need to have it all I may just give it another rethink. Will you be sharing more?

  2. I'm the same way. The thought of doing the entire deck sort of terrifies me with the abundance of symbolism. I'd love to do all the Major Arcana but I'd hate to set the goal only to abandon it halfway through... for now, if I keep reminding myself that it's an artistic interpretation made for personal joy more, maybe I can muddle my way through a few more cards :)

  3. I can't wait to see a few more cards! I love this idea and can't wait to see your interpretations.
