Shabby Pink Kerchief Hearts for Tresors de Luxe

Valentines day is fast approaching but there's still time to make a little something for your sweetie (or anyone else who needs a little love).

Shabby Kerchief Hearts #letresorsdeluxe - Nichola Battilana

These sweet hearts are created from an old kerchief but any scrap of fabric will do. These won't be handled often so I've simply quick stitched around the edges, giving a rustic, shabby look. There's something terribly sweet about handstitching, it weaves good thoughts into the piece your working on.

You can enhance your hearts as much or as little decoration as you like. I really like the combination of the primitive stitching with opulent Tresors De Luxe embellishments.

How about a heart dripping with pearly beads and sequins WHITE LACE APPLIQUE and IVORY CHIFFON FLOWERS?

Or maybe something a little more sentimental with a vintage picture tucked in with some artificial flower embellishments...

In the end, what matters most, is your personal touch and letting someone know they are dear to you.

  4. My granddaughters would love something like this. Do you ever have problems with the edges of the lace pieces you cut apart (like those bitty little flowers) starting to unravel? It looks so delicate.

    1. I haven't had problems with the lace from Tresors de Luxe, but I'm sure that's due to the quality and type of lace it is. For other laces, burlaps and trims I just apply some glue along the edge very discreetly and it holds together. There are specfic products to prevent fraying, but I've got glue on hand so that's what I use.

  5. Ahhhh this reminds me of the main decoration on the very elaborate Valentine's Day card my Grandfather gave to my Grandmother every year. It was originally from the 1940's and, instead of spending money each year, they agreed he would re-use it (as it was one of her favorite cards/gifts in the world) and just insert a new note every year. :) I never saw anything like it. . . and I'll never forget it or the genuine look she got on her face each year when he gave it to her. :)

Such beautiful work Nichola! Happy Valentine's Day to you and Mr Pixie!
